Alrighty folks, this hike is a super easy hike with a great view of Hawaiian History. This place is filled with a bamboo tunnel, and fallen logs with moss everywhere. There are two trails on this hike 1) to the ruins and 2) the waterfall. The top of the waterfall is on public property however, there is a larger fall that starts the cutoff line from public to private property. When hiking this trail, please be respectful of the ruins and for the owners of the private property portion . For directions and hike advice feel free to contact us.

Mokuleia
Mokuleia Hike
Looking for a hike to take little kids on? This might be the perfect hike. This hike is on a dirt road but can take you off trail near the ocean's tidepools. A detoured drive to the North Shore, and past a little town called Wailua, you find yourself near Mokuleia. This place is great for easy walks, and even runs but please be advised that it can get very hot here so be sure to pack lots of water and sunscreen. I was able to bring my sister and brother on this hike and although they are not as active as I am, they managed, of course with kids, there comes a little complaining: particularly my brother. When spending time with my siblings I try to encourage leaving their phones and techs in the car so they could enjoy their time in the great outdoors. But, that didnt work. After an hour walk, we decided to set camp in a tidepool where David and I were able to set up our hammock and enjoy the ocean breeze all while watching my sister find shells on the washed up shore and my bother swim in the tidepools. This was definitely a Beautiful place to GET LOST!

Let me hold your hand
Only loners sit by themselves
Let me give you a kiss
Yeah, were THAT couple

At the peak
This is one of the first hikes David and I ever did together. So we were pretty new into taking photos together. But nonetheless, this was a great hike. The only hikes Ive ever done on the Windward side was the famous "Haiku Stairs" and a few of the waterfall hikes, so it was a nice change in location. The start of the trail is off to the side of the road, so of course, it was a little sketchy but, we found the path and found our way. This is a great location for those, half mountains half ocean shots. Be granted, we do live on an island so youre bound to have both the mountain range and the ocean near each other (Something most mainlanders dont get to experience). I advise everyone to go around 2pm, that way you have some time to experience the sun going down over the Koolaus without running into hiking in the dark. Heading back down, be sure to understand that youre going downhill and your car is parked along side the road so, as long as you get back down to the roadside, you'll be able to find your car (I only tell you this because I can openly admit, I freaked out a little but, only because the sun was going down extremely quick! LOL)

Hamama Falls
This hike is by far the easiest hike David and I have encountered together. It is also a hike with a great waterfall at the end. Dont get me wrong, getting to the actual falls has a few hills but its totally worth it. We got to see amazing Banyan trees and wild orchids (one of my favorite flowers). Beware, there are mosquitoes that will eat you alive but, as long as youre prepared with repellent, you should be fine. Unfortunately, when we got to the falls, we didnt have much alone time for "cute couple pictures" but we made the most of it.
The day we went David and I had already been adventuring and found a few hidden gems that have been surfacing the IG world so, were glad we got to cross this hike off of our list.
