Life on Koh Tao
If you're planning on going to the Southern Islands in Thailand and you're big on diving and marine life, definitely check out Koh Tao. This is a small island you can literally walk. The central town has almost everything you need, semi-tourist driven but the shops there have unique tastes. This island is very much inspired by Australian culture, many cafes and dive companies are owned by Aussies. Although Koh Tao has many tourist, the views are to die for. David and I stayed at the Dusit Buncha Resort. If its in your budget, it is totally worth it (check out Expedia for special hotel rates and point redemption options to lower the price). The only draw back is getting to the island. Koh Tao requires you to fly into Koh Samui then catching a 1.5hr ferry to the island.
The view from the hotel is amazing. Although there was no real sandy beach right in front of our hotel, we did get a KILLER sunset view shown in the images above. Although most of you may think that this is Lanikai looking out to the Mok Islands, trust me its not! ;) The hotel has a great staff and a FREE SHUTTLE too and from the main pier where the shuttle drops you off. The hotel is far away from the main town but you can definitely walk to an from the hotel. Since we went during the "off season" we didnt run into much tourist. The hotel has an incredibly romantic dinner spot that can be reserved for one couple. The lighting and the sun set was incredibly breath taking. We got to relax on the pool side and sip on some fresh coconuts. And although you can do that back in Hawaii, the fruits are completely different in Thailand, much sweeter, and much fresher. In all honesty, I miss the food! :) Speaking of food, the hotel offers breakfast options for all you can eat breakfast buffet which was included in our stay, incredibly helpful because we didnt have to leave the resort early for food. They served amazing omelets, delicious roti (an indian inspired crepe), and various fruits, rice, curry and chicken options. The draw back about Traveling here was the mosquitoes! If you are planning on going to the South, please please get your malaria shots, just to be safe and pack or buy insect spray. Im a huge fan of natural products so I use lemongrass oils! It works perfectly fine and you don't smell like chemicals. This part of our stay in Thailand was a great way to celebrate our relationship. Looking back on it all, everything we did to be on this trip was worth it. I got to spend quality time with the love of my life and enjoy the comforts of Vacay MODE! :)
